Mission Call

As some of you know, Boyd's little sister ( Kara) lives with us. She is only a year younger than I, and we have been the best of friends since the day we met. She is a lovely woman and she has always had the dream to go on an LDS mission. A couple weeks ago, Kara turned in her papers. We have been anxiously waiting for her call to come. This last Thursday a big envelope addressed to "Sister Bowers" arrived in our mail box! we were so excited..

I am so grateful for Kara and for her wonderful spirit that has filled our home. She is such an example to me and a wonderful support system. While I'm terribly sad to have her go for a year in a half, I know that the people of Uruguay are going to be so blessed to have her there! I admire her for her dedication and Strength. I love you Kara and I know you will do great things.

Kara will be leaving April 1, and will be attending the Argentina MTC to learn Spanish.

Boyds Birthday

Boyd turned 25 yesterday! He is such a great husband and friend, and I really wanted to get him something that he would like. So, a couple weeks ago I decided to get him Jazz tickets for the game on his birthday because he LOVES the Utah Jazz. Just so happens I was able to get 4 tickets for the sixth row! Boyd, me and his two friends from home had a wonderful time cheering on the Jazz to a victory against the pistons, in over time! It was so exciting to actually see the players that close and hear everything they were saying. I'm afraid we will never be able to sit in the nose bleed sections again after experiencing the greatness of close seating. I love you Boyd and I'm so glad you were born.

My Date

So this really cute Boyd asked me to the Dixie state homecoming dance, just the guy I was hoping was going to ask me! haha actually I had no idea we were going to go. But Boyd and his cousin, Rick, had been planning all week to ask their wives to dinner then the dance. We had a really good time, felt slightly awkward because I didn't know married people went to these events, but as it turns out we weren't the only ones.. plus we ended up having a blast! Sorry to all the guys that took me to dances in the past, because Boyd was by far the best date I have ever had. Thanks Boyd for a fun date!

Sand Hollow

Boyd and I started working at Sand Hollow Golf Resort one year ago! We had just moved to st. george with no jobs and essentially no friends. We found a job posting at the school that said a golf course was just opening and needed workers. We went down to the course and applied, and both of us got the job! Boyd started as an outside runner, and I a hostess. Boyd is now a supervisor/ security, I am a hostess/executive assistant. We love working in this atmosphere and have developed many good friends. We are gratefull to have had the oportunity to work together, and develope our golf game! We both whole heartedly believe that we work at the most beautiful golf course around. Thanks Sand Hollow for a great year!

Crafts

I have had time to craft lately so that has been fun! I have made two aprons and four pillows. I like the pillows, but Boyd says they are too "girly," and that i have officially made the worst napping pillows. haha. Hopefully he will get used to them :) But what does he expect living with a woman?

(If you notice there are two more pillows I am going to cover on the black chair, Boyd doesn't know about them yet!) I just love pillows!

Newest addition to our family.

Boyd and I have been married now for a year and a half, and we are proud to announce.. drum roll please..... that we have a washer and dryer!! They arrived yesterday as if they were heaven sent. There are many things we love about our new apartment, and one of them is the washer dryer hookups. My lovely sister provided us with the washer and my parents got us the dryer. While many of our best memories come from the hours spent at a "laundromat" (I never understood why its laundrOmat and not laundry mat), we are not sad to put those days behind us. I have already done three loads of laundry and have actually enjoyed it. I thought I would list a couple of the things I will NOT miss about the laundromat..

1. Having to load and reload your laundry in and out of the car multiple times.
2. Having impatient strangers take your wet laundry out of the dryer and throwing it on the floor. (because for some reason their time and laundry is more important than yours)
3. Getting to the laundromat and realizing you forgot the detergent, or even worse your quarters.
4. constantly having to search for quarters.
5. pumping quarters into a dryer only to find out the dryer isn't pumping warm air, and in fact not drying a thing.

Those are just a couple reasons, but trust me.. I could go on and on. Thank you Kim, Mom and Dad for upgrading our quality of life!

Here is a pic of the newest members of our family...

Havasupai

Boyd and I decided to go on a camping trip! Some friends from work were heading down the Grand Canyon to Havasupai, and they invited us to go along! I have always wanted to go because I heard it was just beautiful. Boyd had gone a couple times before and always talked about how much fun it was. Sure enough, it lived up to expectations. It a 10 mile hike down all along red rock, then all of the sudden you hit and oasis and beautiful water falls!

Here we are hiking...

One of the first water falls...

Havasu falls...

We had our stuff packed down for us, so we didnt have to carry it ourselves which made the expierence so much more enjoyable. We visited, ate and played in the cool water all day long. There were several water falls that we would hike to, Unfortunalty our camera died the first day so we didnt get pictures of all the falls. THe water fall above has a cave behind it, so we hiked up the back, then jumped through! it was a blast.. thank you wilkey's for a wonderful trip!

Visit from the Parental Units

My Parents decided Sunday night to come and visit Boyd and I in St. George for a couple of days. (Partly because I told them that I had let my health insurance lapse, so they came up to get me insured...oops) We always love visitors and we had such a good time. It has been an action packed couple of days. We visited, golfed, sewed, ate good food, got health insurance, shopped and went to a play! Here are some pics of the last couple days.

Boyd and My dad went golfing at the course we work at, while my mom and I crafted!

We went to the Tuacahn.. It is an outdoor amphitheater built into the unique red rock of st. George.. its super cool.

My mom and dad at Tuacahn...

We saw the play footloose, it was very entertaining!
Im into aprons these days, so my parents bought me this super cute apron!

Thanks mom and dad for a great visit!
