Smores-- Don't Mind if We Do.

The Boyd and I took a bit of a camping trip last weekend. We headed about 30 mins from where we live to this beautiful reservoir. We had a blast just skipping rocks, building a fire, eating delicious tin foil dinners and of course, making smores. But, I have to say; the best part about it was that my Blackberry didn't get any service (not a single email or text!) Meaning an entire weekend with my husband without any interruptions.

Can't get much better than that.

We are so grateful to live in such a beautiful place.

Airplanes & the Pacific Northwest

Boyd and I love airplanes. We might feel differently one day when we have children, but for now we love having time where there is nothing else to do but talk, read and nap. We are so blessed to have the opportunity to fly often! This weekend, we spent a beautiful gloomy weekend in Seattle, Wa.

Sometimes, a girl just needs her mom

And luckily, mine is just one flight away.

Spent the weekend with my folks. We had a great time enjoying the warmth, food and opening night of It's a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play at the Old Town Theatre.

A little bite out of the Big Apple

This weekend Boyd and I went to New York! We are sad to see summer go, so we decided to go on a "farewell Summer" trip. Boyd had never been to New York, and because it is one of those "must sees," that is where we headed. It was a very short trip as we both had to work on Friday, and needed to get back to work on Monday morning. So, after work on Friday we took a red eye and landed in New York at about 7 a.m., Saturday. We wandered around the city, ate delcious street vendor food, saw the sights, and headed back to the airport and arrived back at our home on Saturday night at 11:00 p.m.

The weather was perfect and the people were rad; so, in true Bowers fashion we wandered around aimlessly discovering little treasures.

Just a few pics from our trip:

We stumbled upon the Korean Day Parade. AKA: The parade came out of no where and we accidently started marching in it.

Another pic of the Korean Day Parade. This is a picture of me yelling to Boyd to come rescue me.

Sunday was spent sleeping and recovering from our sleepless 24 hours. And now with a little taste of the big apple (and delicious new york cheese cake), we are ready to welcome Fall with open arms.

Mr. Olympia!

A couple of weekends ago, the boyd and I and a couple of friends headed down to Las Vegas for the annual Mr. Olympia competition and expo. We love to lift weights, so this was right up our alley! As it so happens, I'm writing this blog post before I head to the gym, so I am going to make it short and sweet before I lose my motivation.

My. Olympia in a nutshell: muscles, protien, trashy outfits and a whole lot of fun. Can't wait till next year!

(aren't they awesome?!)

Boyd sorting out all of our protien/pre workouts/post workouts. Next time you see us, we will just be two masses of muscle.
Now off to the gym!

In Pursuit of Courage

I love my sweet husband, and I am so grateful to be married to such an understanding and empathetic individual. I admire his resilience, courage and hope. His perspective on life is more than inspiring, and I'm forever in debt to my Heavenly Father for keeping me in mind when he was plotting out the course of Boyd's life.

Just a thought from Winston Churchill:

"Courage is going from failure to failure without losing enthusiasm"
